Botox® cosmetic injections are measured in units and usually priced in dollars per unit.  Price of BOTOX unit injection can be different in some clinics. Usually price of a BOTOX Unit ranges between $12 and $18 per unit of BOTOX.

BOTOX is a trade name of a prescription drug called Clostridium botulinum toxin type A, sometimes it is also referred as C. botulinum toxin or botulinum toxin.  Allergan is the company that makes BOTOX and BOTOX is a trade name registered by Allergan.

Some other companies make C. botulinum toxin type A but market it under different trade names and they are also measured in units, however, BOTOX units are not equal to the units of botulinum toxin made by these other drug manufacturers.  There is no strict rule to convert BOTOX units to other measures.

As any other medication BOTOX has generic name, which is Clostridium botulinum toxin type A.  Recently this generic name for BOTOX has been changed to OnabotulinumToxinA.  Generic name does not affect the price of medication per unit.  Price will still be the same for BOTOX, OnabotulinumToxinA and Clostridium botulinum toxin A.

Some doctors price BOTOX injections based on the area where it is used.  It may be confusing as each individual patient may require different amount of BOTOX units for the same area.
